Aubameyang 'agrees deal' with new club

Chelsea outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now reportedly agreed a deal to join a new team in Europe.

It was a regrettable first season at Chelsea for the Gabon international, who ended the 2022/23 campaign with less than 1 000 minutes of football under his belt.

He scored just three times in 22 appearances, marking his lowest goal return since the 2009/10 season, according to Transfermarkt.

While an apparent lack of form was noted, the African star also seemed low on confidence as he could not find his feet under the three managers who followed after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, who is believed to have been the main reason the striker decided to leave FC Barcelona but would get sacked within days of Aubameyang's Blues debut in September 2022.

With Chelsea now undergoing a massive squad overhaul following a disastrous campaign that saw them finish 12th in Premier League, he was widely expected to be one of the first names to leave Stamford Bridge in this window, but 11 players have left west London, either on loan or permanently, before him.

It appears the former Borussia Dortmund talisman has finally found a new destination, however, as it is now reported that he has agreed to return to Ligue 1 for the first time since the 2012/13 season when he played for Saint-Etienne.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Aubameyang has reached an agreement to join Olympique Marseille in a deal until 2026.

The French club is said to be optimistic about getting the transfer done and do not expect any complications in their negotiations with Chelsea.

It appears the centre-forward will now be heading back to the country of his birth, France, despite reportedly receiving a lucrative offer from a team in Saudi Arabia.
