Burnley boss confirms another Foster setback

With Lyle Foster having been struggling with an injury recently, Burnley boss Scott Parker has confirmed another setback for the South African.

The 24-year-old picked up an injury to his left knee in Bafana Bafana's 5-0 victory over Congo in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier during the October international break.

The attacker got his name on the scoresheet, but was later forced off the pitch after a clash with opposition goalkeeper Christopher Mafoumbi.

He was then sent for scans and further analysis, with Parker initially stating that the former KVC Westerlo forward could be ready to return after the current international break.

However, after a recent scan, results have shown that the South African striker requires more time to fully recover.

"Lyle will still be a few weeks," Parker said per Burnley Express.

"He had a big injury, so it will be a few weeks. But Joe Worrall is in the right place.

"We've got some big players on the treatment table, Aaron Ramsey, Jordan Beyer, Nathan Redmond...they're moving in the right direction and hopefully we can get them back and they can also help and add to what we need."

Foster last appearance for the Clarets came in an EFL Championship match against Preston North End in early October, which ended in a stalemate.

Since then, he has watched his team play six matches from the sidelines, with the second-tier club winning two, losing one and drawing three times.

The side are currently fourth on the table, just four points away from table-toppers Sunderland.

The Bafana Bafana striker will be eager to recover and get back on the pitch to try and help the English outfit as they push for a return to the Premier League.
