Chelsea make big Lukaku 'decision'

Chelsea have now reportedly made a big decision regarding Romelu Lukaku's future with them.

Having struggled to sell the striker so far in this window, the Blues have decided to allow the 30-year-old to leave the club on a temporary basis in the coming days, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.

Ornstein further reports that the Belgian's representatives have spent the window trying to get him a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge, to no avail.

After being unsuccessful in those attempts, Lukaku's camp is now open to loan offers, with Juventus and AS Roma reported to be among the suitors for whom that option would appeal, with the latter said to have already made contact with the Blues regarding a potential deal.

The forward has also attracted interest from some English sides, with reports suggesting that his former club Everton are interested in signing Lukaku on loan, but still need to convince the player of their project. It is said that they also want Chelsea to cover 50% of his wages.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly been ordered not to include the forward in his first-team plans, with it believed the manager has not yet had a conversation with Lukaku since arriving at the club.

"I'm not going to move until the club or the player wants to talk with me. I am here, I accept the situation that was here when I arrived," the Argentine tactician said, as per the Daily Mirror.

Lukaku made a big £97.5 million (R2.2 billion) move from Inter Milan to Chelsea in August 2021. However, he damaged his relationship with the Blues later that season when he expressed his unhappiness at the London club in a now-infamous interview in which he criticised then-manager Thomas Tuchel and said that he would have preferred to stay at Inter Milan.
