Liverpool 'strike 5-year deal' with 2022 World Cup winner

Liverpool have now reportedly reached an agreement to sign a 2022 FIFA World Cup winner on a five-year deal!

The Reds are believed to be on the verge of confirming their first signing of the 2023/24 campaign.

The team endured an underwhelming 2022/23 season given their usual high standards, and will now be competing in the UEFA Europa League for the first time since the 2015/16 campaign.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has been quite vocal about his side's misfortunes this term, and has often highlighted the importance of coming back stronger in the next campaign.

As such, the Merseyside outfit is said to have begun preparing for the next chapter, and now appear to be within touching distance of confirming their newest arrival.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister on a five-year deal from Brighton Hove Albion.

The Italian transfer expert also claims that medical tests are scheduled to take place within the next 24 to 48 hours after the Reds triggered the midfielder's buyout clause.

The exact fee is unconfirmed, but it is thought to be far less than the reported £60 million (R1.4 billion) price tag that has been mooted in the press.

With the 24-year-old's official arrival expected to happen this week, the Anfield team is expected to splash more cash in the transfer window, with Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone and Romeo Lavia said to be other midfield targets.

With the English giants said to have freed up some funds following the exits of James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents, French outlet L'Equipe has reported that negotiations between the English giants and Nice are already underway for the abovementioned Thuram.
