Man Utd 'identify' Onana's replacement?

With Andre Onana's future at Manchester United reportedly in doubt, the club is said to have started talks with a goalkeeper who could succeed the Cameroonian star.

Onana has been out of form this season, and his recent costly errors have seemingly jeopardized his future with the Red Devils.

Onana has been heavily criticised by the club's fans due to his numerous blunders. Nevertheless, it appears that United coach Ruben Amorim still believes in his abilities.

After many placed the blame on Onana, the Portuguese coach stood up for him after his errors in the team's recent 2-2 tie against Lyon in the UEFA Europa League.

United suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolves in a Sunday Premier League match, with Onana in goal. The loss saw the Red Devils fall to 14th place in the league standings.

However, according to a TeamTalk report, Manchester have their sights set on FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, as they believe he would be a suitable replacement for Onana.

The report has emphasized that United is keen on signing the 25-year-old goalie, who won the Primeira Liga's Goalkeeper of the Season award in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.

While it is reported that Porto would be happy to keep their star stopper, it also suggested that the two-time UEFA Champions League winners may be willing to part with their goalkeeper based on how much United offers.

Additionally, the report stated that Manchester can only let the African goalkeeper go if they discover a great goalkeeper, with Costa currently their primary target for the upcoming campaign.
