The Spaniard was arguably the best player in Europe in the 2023/24 season as his inspired performances over the course of the campaign saw him win the Premier League, the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and the 2024 UEFA European Championship with Spain.
His international compatriot Dani Carvajal was so impressed with his quality that he went as far as trying to persuade Rodri to join him at Real in the future.
During an interview with El Partidazo de COPE in July, Carvajal said: "Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: 'Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid'. He says: 'Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.' It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid... I think it would fit perfectly."
The reigning LALIGA champions seem to have heeded that call with a report by Football 365 claiming that Real have made Rodri their priority signing for next season.
The 28-year-old's contract at the Etihad expires in June 2027, but he is reportedly very tempted about the prospect of joining the Madrid giants next year.
It is further claimed, though, that the defensive midfielder does not rule out the possibility of staying at City and signing a new deal, while it is highlighted that he could set Carlo Ancelotti's side back by as much as £100 million (R2.3 billion) if he were to decide to join them.

Staying at City or joining Real are reportedly the only two paths for the player, but manager Pep Guardiola's possible exit at the end of the season could be a vital factor in Rodri's ultimate decision on the matter.
