Man City star hits out at teammate’s behaviour

A Manchester City star has hit out at his teammate's behaviour following a recent clash between the two stars on international duty.

Despite claiming a historic continental treble in 2022/23, it now seems that serious tension is brewing between two of the club's stars.

This comes following the England Under-21s recent UEFA European Championship triumph over Spain to claim their first continental title in 39 years, according to Sky Sports.

England claimed a 1-0 victory on Saturday evening, however, the match was not without any drama, as a brawl ensured between the two teams, which resulted in forward Morgan Gibbs-White and assistant coach Ashley Cole receiving red cards for their involvement in the commotion between the two benches after the goal was scored.

The match ended with 30 fouls, 11 yellow cards, and four reds, including two for Spain's Antonio Blanco and a member of the side's technical team.

However, a notable fallout between two City players has since taken precedence, as two the of Premier League champions' fringe players Sergio Gomez and Cole Palmer are now not seeing eye to eye.

The former seems to have taken offence from the latter's wild goal celebrations after the Englishman's free-kick deflected onto the scorer Gibbs-White, leaving Palmer to assume that the goal was his before it was credited to the aforementioned Nottingham Forest star.

However, Gomez did not appreciated how his Citizens' teammate reacted after the fact, with the Spaniard slamming Palmer for his "attitude", as it led to the brawl between the two nations.

The La Roja fullback told Cadena Ser, "It surprised me. He didn't want to apologise or anything like some of his other teammates.

"I don't know, I would have celebrated it in a different way and my teammates would have done it in a different way as well.

"They [England] have the attitude they want to have. This is not the first time something like this has happened with this team.

"We have tried to represent our country in the best possible way and have the utmost respect for all our rivals. They wanted to celebrate it like this and also after the missed penalty."

Gomez went on to tell the Manchester Evening News about the incident, stating, "I don't know if we will talk about it or if he will tell me something. I am not going to tell him anything, I have congratulated him, as it has to be done. If you want to say something to me or apologise, ask me, but the truth is that it has not been a good attitude.

"There has been nothing, he has wanted to celebrate it like this and he is done. Each one celebrates it as they want and we already know how the English are.

"In the end they are the ones who make those provocations. He has wanted to celebrate it like this, there has been a bit of a racket.

"I said in the middle of the half that we should forget about it, that we would play our game and in the second half we played better than in the first. We had the chance of a penalty and it couldn't be scored, a shame".
