'Salah deserves plaudits like Ronaldo'

A Premier League legend has shared why Mohamed Salah deserves the same plaudits Cristiano Ronaldo has got in his career.

The Egypt international has broken a number of records since joining the Reds from Roma in 2017.

After netting a brace against Erik ten Hag's Manchester United on Sunday, Salah became Liverpool's all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League, having taken his tally to 129 strikes and overtaken club legend Robbie Fowler's longstanding record of 128 goals in 61 fewer appearances.

His strikes against the Red Devils also ensured that, for the sixth consecutive season, Salah has found the back of the net at least 20 times across all competitions.

Fowler has now given his reasons as to why he feels the 30-year-old should be highlighted in the same manner Ronaldo was during his time in Europe.

"To go through your career without a serious injury, of course you need a bit of luck," the former England international told The Athletic.

"But his appearance record also says a lot about how Mo looks after himself.

"Cristiano Ronaldo gets a lot of plaudits on that front and Mo deserves the same.

"His body is a temple. He's completely devoted to his profession.

"He's the perfect example for the young players coming through in terms of how to lead your life.

"I'm sure he's played a lot with aches and pains, but he just hates missing games."
