OFFICIAL: The EPL's newest manager confirmed!

The Premier League's newest manager has now been confirmed.

Nottingham Forest have announced that former Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espírito Santo will take the reins of the Tricky Trees, after they announced the sacking of Steve Cooper on Tuesday night.

"Nottingham Forest can today confirm the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo as first team head coach," the club said in a statement.

"Nuno joins the club on a two-and-a-half-year contract and will take charge of his first match on Saturday when Forest face Bournemouth at The City Ground.

"The 49-year-old arrives with a wealth of experience having managed over 460 games in his career, including in the Premier League, La Liga, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

"The new head coach will take charge of his first training session with the squad this morning as they prepare for Saturday's Premier League fixture when The Reds host Bournemouth at The City Ground."

The Portuguese tactician had been out of work since departing Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad in November.

Espírito Santo comes with considerable EPL experience, having managed Wolves from 2017 to 2021.

He helped the side return to England's top flight where, under his guidance, they finished seventh in their first two seasons back.

The former Porto manager then moved on to Tottenham Hotspur in July 2021, but only lasted until November that year before he was relieved of his duties.

Now, however, he has returned to the league and will presumably be tasked with helping Forest turn their fortunes around.

Cooper was in charge of the Tricky Trees for more than two years but after losing five of his past six league games, it was decided that the club and the manager would part ways, with his last game in charge being a 2-0 defeat to Spurs over the weekend.

Forest have picked up only one point from their past five matches, and are currently hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th position, just five points ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town.
