A Premier League star has now been charged by the English Football Association over offensive comments he made about his teammate.
The English FA has charged Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur with misconduct for an offensive remark he made about South Koreans in relation to his teammate and club captain, Son Heung-min.

The sanction comes three months after the midfielder spoke on a Uruguayan television show, when he was asked for a Spurs player's jersey and replied: "Sonny's?"
He went on to add that the jersey could be Son's cousin, too, because "more or less, they are all the same".
"Rodrigo Bentancur has been charged with an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 for misconduct in relation to a media interview," statement by the English FA on X reads.
"It's alleged that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has breached FA Rule E3.1 as he acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or insulting words and/or brought the game into disrepute.
"It's further alleged that this constitutes an 'aggravated breach' which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it included a reference, whether express or implied, to nationality and/or race and/or ethnic origin.
"Rodrigo Bentancur has until Thursday, 19 September 2024, to provide a response to this charge."
Bentancur did later offer an apology to Son on Instagram, explaining that was a "very bad joke" and he would "never disrespect you or hurt" his Lilywhites colleague.

The charge will not impact the Uruguayan midfielder's availability for this weekend's London Derby against Arsenal.
