Manchester United sit seven points above the relegation zone following a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in Premier League action on Monday night.
United coach Ruben Amorim handed starts to Joshua Zirkzee, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Matthijs de Ligt after the loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford was back in the squad after being left out for the last four games.
The visitors got off to a perfect start when Aleksander Isak continued his impressive form by nodding home a cross from Lewis Hall at the far post.
The advantage was doubled in the 18th minute as Joelinton got his name on the score-sheet by getting above Lisandro Martinez to head home Anthony Gordon's cross.
Amorim was clearly not happy with the way United were playing and opted for a change in the 32nd minute by withdrawing the ineffective Zirkzee for Kobbie Mainoo to help bolster the midfield.
United were able to carve out some chances in the latter stages of the first half, but both Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro squandered their openings in the box with only goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in their way.
Ten minutes after the break, the Red Devils looked to reduce the deficit as Diogo Dalot did well to pick out Harry Maguire, who saw his close-range header kept out by the upright.
Substitute Lenny Yoro went close to pulling the Red Devils level in the 74th minute when he met a corner from Diallo but the Frenchman's header sailed inches wide of the upright.
That proved to be the final chance as the home side slumped to their ninth defeat of the league campaign.
