Chelsea: Eden Hazard & N'Golo Kante being pushed towards Stamford Bridge exits by 'Sarri-ball'

Kante and Hazard who starred for the Blues in the 2016/17 title-winning season under former manager Antonio Conte in defensive midfield and left-wing roles respectively - are considered as elite players in their favoured roles.

During their 2018 FIFA World Cup in which Kante lifted the title with France and Hazard was ranked as one of the best players, helping Belgium to third place - the pair furthered their credentials as world-class performers.

However, with Sarri attempting to implement his own philosophy with Jorginho in a deep-lying playmaker role, Kante has been shifted into a more advanced midfield role while Hazard often found himself as a false nine before the recent arrival of Gonzalo Higuain.

This has led former defender Mario Melchoit to suggest it won't be long before the duo becomes fed up with the tactical system amidst their current struggles.

"If you play players out of their position, you're taking away their happiness and when their happiness goes, players are going to start looking at somewhere else," the former Netherlands right-back told TalkSport.

"Kante is happy doing the job he's good at, but now Sarri is making him go forward.

"His strength is breaking up play and winning the ball back, and that allows other Chelsea players to take more risks because they have that security of Kante being behind them.

"That security is gone now and if they lose the ball, their opponents come straight at them. It's the same with Hazard – if you want to keep hold of your star players you have to make them feel good about what they're doing.

"Sarri has started to complain that he dribbles too much with the ball, but what do you want? That's his ability and there is no player who wants to play against him when he does that.

"If you do not want him to dribble, if you want him to play one-touch instead, he should not be in your team."

Chelsea are currently in sixth, one point behind Manchester United who occupy the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot.
