With a wide range of top stars now down to the final months of their contracts at their respective clubs, Lukhanyo Mtuta looks at several high-profile players who will soon be available on free transfers ahead of next season!
Kylian Mbappe is possibly the most notable example of a player who is set to join a new club as a free agent in the off-season, having reportedly declared that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain when his contract expires in June. However, with his path seemingly headed to Real Madrid, it is less obvious where some other soon-to-be free agents are headed.

Adrien Rabiot
The France international will be out of contract at Juventus at the end of this term, having arrived at the club back in 2019. Rabiot remains a staple in the Italian team, having played in every game this season barring the matches he missed through injuries and suspensions. While it is clear that manager Massimiliano Allegri counts on him, the 28-year-old told reporters on Tuesday while on international duty that he is yet to decide the next move in his career.
"I have not decided anything regarding my future," the midfielder said, according to Football Italia. "It is true that last season I remained at Juventus knowing full well that we wouldn't participate in European competition. That was my choice. Next season, we are due to participate in the Champions League and the Club World Cup. So these are elements in my thoughts, but I have not made any decisions yet."
Jorginho
It remains unclear whether or not the playmaker will be given a contract extension at Arsenal, but as things stand, he will become a free agent in the coming months. A report by Football Insider suggests that the 32-year-old wanted a two-year contract extension at The Emirates but the Gunners would only be willing to offer a one-year deal with an option to extend rather. Italian outlet Calciomercato claims that Jorginho is thus considering returning to Serie A football next season, with Juventus said to be closely monitoring his situation.
Anthony Martial
The Manchester United star has endured yet another disappointing season at Old Trafford, and it is widely suggested that the club is likely to cut ties with him in June, when his deal concludes. The forward has registered just over 600 minutes of action this term, with manager Erik ten Hag unable to rely on him given his injury struggles. Speaking recently on the latest regarding Martial's future, journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that the French forward will leave Old Trafford, but it is unknown where he could go next.
"I spoke in yesterday's column about players who could leave Manchester United, and another to mention is Anthony Martial as he heads towards the end of his contract," Romano told Caught Offside. "Nothing is decided yet in terms of Martial's next move – he is going to take time to decide, it's still early, and many clubs still have to clarify their future manager, so Martial will wait for it."
Joel Matip
The Cameroonian's time at Liverpool is ticking down fast, with the latest reports suggesting that he wants to stay on Merseyside. According to Anfield Watch, however, the club's new sporting director Richard Hughes is only interested in renewing the contracts of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. This leaves Matip, as well as Thiago Alcantara, with no choice but to depart as free agents. It is further claimed that current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp vouched for Matip to be given more time, but the German tactician holds no say over the final decision as he, too, will leave at the end of the campaign.
