Dolly and his camp flew out to France on Monday this week to complete his medical and sign the deal, which has been wrapped up 'pending payment' for three days already.
Under normal circumstances, Dolly would have been unveiled on Monday. However, as has been extensively covered in the media, there has been nothing normal about this whole saga ever since Sundowns managed to rectify the player's buyout clause amount through the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber.
Sources close to the deal in France have disclosed that Montpellier gave Sundowns a payment guarantee of 1.5-million Pounds (1.7-million) on Monday, but the PSL club has insisted the money first reflects in their bank account before they issue Dolly’s clearance.
snl24.com/kickoff can confirm that it is a once-off payment of the full buyout clause amount, without instalments.
La Pallaide, as the French club is known, intended for Dolly to be unveiled on Monday or Tuesday after the payment was guaranteed and the player completed the formalities but their hands have since been tied.
Montpellier are preparing for a Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Marseille on Friday evening and have been doing all their pre-match press duties with no sign or mention of Dolly.
The French side recently unveiled new signings Nordi Mukiele (19) from Laval, winger Jonathan Ikone (18) on loan from PSG and Czech international defender Lukas Pokorny (23) from Slovan Liberec. They have also promoted 19-year-old defender Morgan Poaty to the first team.
Dolly – once he is officially unveiled and taken out of 'transfer limbo' – will be the replacement for 22-year-old midfielder Morgan Sanson, who has been sold to Marseille for a reported fee of 9-million Euros.
