JUST IN: Barca confirm latest 24/25 signing!

Spanish giants FC Barcelona have now officially confirmed their latest signing, a La Masia product who shone at the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

The LALIGA side has announced the arrival of Dani Olmo from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for a reported fee of €60 million (R1.2 billion) plus add-ons.

The 26-year-old has penned a six-year deal that would see him play for the club until 2030, according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

It understood that Blaugrana sporting director Deco flew out to Leipzig earlier this week to ensure that the deal got over the line, with both parties believed to have been eager to make the move happen.

The Spain international, who completed a medical on Wednesday, is also said to have been new Barca manager Hansi Flick's priority target for the current transfer window, with the side looking to improve on their second-place finish in LALIGA last season, losing out to fierce rivals Real Madrid, who won the title by a 10-point margin.

Olmo will rejoin the Spanish giants after spending seven years at La Masia before leaving the club at the tender age of 16 to join Croatian outfit Dinamo Zagreb.

After 124 senior appearances at the club, in which he amassed 34 goals and 28 assists, the player joined Leipzig in 2020. He featured 148 times for the Bundesliga side, scoring 29 goals and assisting on 34 occasions.

The attacking midfielder then put in some impressive displays at the recent 2024 UEFA European Championship, helping Spain to their fourth continental triumph and being named in the competition's Team of the Tournament.
