Barca overtake Real Madrid after thrilling win

FC Barcelona rallied back from two goals down to beat Atletico Madrid 4-2 in LaLiga on Sunday evening.

Changes for Barca saw Pau Cubarsi, Marc Casado and Dani Olmo return to the starting line-up, whereas Atletico dropped Conor Gallagher for Samuel Lino and Jose Gimenez sacrificed for Robin Le Normand.

Barca fancied the opening on six minutes as Lamine Yamal came up to the six-yard area and combined with Olmo to curl off the upright.

Having suffered heart-break to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League midweek, Atletico looked to come in their own with Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann.

The duo combined late in the half where a cross in the box by Griezmann picked out Alvarez, but Wojciech Szczesny came rushing out and collected.

Alvarez remained menacing and struck the opener when he peeled off in the centre of the box to bundle in Guiliano Simeone's cross.

Barcelona nearly levelled immediately after the break with a snap shot from the edge of the area by Yamal, but he dragged wide of the near post.

The host looked to add to their advantage with Griezmann teeing-up Rodrigo De Paul in the area, but the Argentine failed to capitalise leaving the Blaugrana to clear.

A double substitution towards the closing quarter from the Blaugrana saw Olmo sacrificed for Ferran Torres before Eric Garcia came on for Casado in the hope of a comeback.

However, Atletico remained in control and doubled the lead when a cross from the left met a charging Alexander Sorloth who needed no second invitation.

Barcelona were back in it when a long pass from Inigo Martinez saw Robert Lewandowski controlled perfectly on the chest and finished easily.

Torres levelled matters inside the final ten minutes when he found space in the area to head in a cross from Raphinha.

The turnaround came two minutes in added time as Yamal came inside from the right and cut in to find the far corner with a deflected effort.

Torres completed his brace with the last kick of the game when he picked up a loose pass outside the box and side-stepped a few challengers to slot into the bottom corner, as Barcelona moved top of the table.
