All 14 South African players who have played at the FIFA Club World Cup

With both Percy Tau and Thulani Serero set to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup next year, here's a look at all of the South African players who have featured in the prestigious tournament.

The 2021 edition of the FIFA Club World Cup is set to get underway in February next year and will see two South African players in the form of Al Ahly's Percy Tau, and Al Jazira's Thulani Serero, take part in the competition.

Tau will be making his second showing at the global event after previously representing Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 under Pitso Mosimane, who is coaching at his third tournament after guiding Ahly to a third-placed finish last year.

Elsewhere, Serero will be making his debut at FIFA's flagship club tournament, following in the footsteps of 14 other countrymen who have graced the competition since the inaugural edition back in 2000.

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Quinton Fortune was the first one to do so, playing twice and scoring twice for Manchester United in what was then known as the FIFA Club World Championship.

He was followed by the Auckland City duo of Kearyn Jordan and Grant Young who both took part at the 2006 and 2009 editions, the latter making a national-record four appearances across the two showings.

The bulk of South Africa's representatives hail from Mamelodi Sundowns' 2016 squad, which included Wayne Arendse, Tebogo Langerman, Hlompho Kekana, Tiyani Mabunda, Keagan Dolly, Thapelo Morena, Siyanda Zwane, Sibusiso Vilakazi, Asavela Mbekile, Lucky Mohomi, and Tau.

Note: Kearyn Baccus (South African-born Australian national) and Ryan De Vries (South African-born New Zealand international) have not been considered for purposes of this gallery.
