Club World Cup match report Al Ahly v Al-Hilal 12 February 2022

Following their semi-final loss to Palmeiras, the Egyptians restored Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Abdelmonem, Ahmed Radwan and Mohamed Sherif to the eleven.

The Cairo Red Devils stamped their authority on eight minutes after Yasser Ibrahim attacked a telling ball from Ali Maaloul to head in from point-blank range.

Hilal were then dealt a blow after a spell of six minutes in which their danger man Matheus Pereira got an immediate dismissal by the man in the middle following an indiscretion.

This allowed the African champions to add on to their advantage two minutes later when Ibrahim applied another smart header from a surging ball past their opposite number.

Hilal's playing personnel were reduced again on the half-hour mark after Mohammed Kanno walked the plank for violent conduct as the pitch-side monitor approved the decision after consultation.

The Egyptian giants made it three in the last five minutes of the half through a powerful right-footed shot from the left of the area by Radwan as the defence failed to track his movements.

With Karim Fouad and Hussein El Shahat introduced for Ahly following the second period, Hilal witnessed a clear chance from Moussa Marega go wide of target from a smart delivery.

Ahly claimed their fourth after a quiet spell when a ball from El Shahat found Amr Al-Sulaya, who went and applied a composed bottom corner finish midway through the second period.

The Cairo Red Devils were presented more chances in the closing minutes through El Shahat and Walid Soliman, but neither capitalised and left the final score 4-0.
