Real Madrid thumped Al Ahly 4-1 and progressed to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday night.
Real welcomed back Luka Modric and David Alaba following Sunday's loss at Real Mallorca, whereas Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau started on the bench for Al Ahly.
Los Blancos looked to hit the opener in the early stages with a speculative free-kick by Toni Kroos, but Ahly goalkeeper Mohammed El-Shenawy collected easily.
The LaLiga giants were close again at the midway stage where a move down the left channel had Federico Valverde cutback for Rodrygo only for the forward to fluff his lines.
Los Blancos made their presence felt two minutes ahead of halftime when Vinicius Junior pounced on a defensive error and chipped over El Shenawy to find his 14th goal of the season in all competitions.
Real grabbed a second goal just after the break where Valverde took Rodrygo's loose effort in his stride and tucked home with the Brazilian's initial effort parried.
The Cairo Red Devils very nearly had a way back a little later through a rasping shot from outside the area by Mohamed Hany following a loose ball, but Lunin collected.
Ahly made the first substitutions of the match after 60 minutes ,with Tau introduced for Mohamed Sherif and Hamdi Fathi coming on for Aliou Dieng.
However, Ahly did got one back midway through the second half when Ali Maaloul slotted home from the penalty spot after Eduardo Camavinga brought down Hussein El Shahat.
Madrid didn't lose momentum and nearly had a third goal with a penalty in the last three minutes as Vinicius drew a foul after a Video Assistant Review (VAR), but El-Shenawy denied Modric.
The European champions made up for the penalty miss when Rodrygo found a ball from substitute Dani Ceballos and tucked beyond El-Shenaway in additional time.
Madrid made the match completely safe in the closing seconds with a cool finish from young Sergio Arribas and sealed the contest as a whole.
