WATCH: Ghana coach snaps awkward selfie with tearful Son

A member of Ghana's backroom staff bizarrely attempted to take a selfie with a tearful Son Heung-Min after the African nation secured a 3-2 win over South Korea in their 2022 FIFA World Cup clash on Monday afternoon.

In a goal-filled match, it was the Black Stars who narrowly secured victory over the Asian nation despite there being a 33-place gap between the two nations on FIFA's World Rankings, with the former ranked in 61st place while South Korea are 28th.

The Taeguk Warriors now have to secure a victory over Portugal in their final Group H match and hope that Ghana stumble against Uruguay to ensure progress to the knockout stages.

However, Monday's fantastic spectacle was overshadowed when one of Ghana's coaches took his phone out after the final whistle to snap a picture of himself with Tottenham Hotspur star Son, despite the player being in tears at the prospect that his World Cup soon come to an end. 

Assistant coach George Boateng quickly intervened to tell his colleague to put the phone away as he gave the Premier League forward a chance to compose himself. 

South Korea will be without manager Paulo Bento on the touchline for their last group-stage clash against Portugal after the Portuguese boss was shown a red card by official Anthony Taylor for his post-match protests, during which he was seen screaming at the referee.

The Asian side's assistant coach Sergio Costa later revealed that he felt his side deserved to win in their defeat to Ghana.

"Not even a tie would have been fair," Costa said, per the BBC.

"We clearly deserved to win.

"I think we can be very proud of what we did, and can count on us in the next match."
