Bafana Bafana midfielder Thibang Phete has found a new home to revive his career in Europe after spending eight months without a club.
The four-cap Bafana midfielder has been without a team since leaving Portugal's CD Chaves at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season when his one-year contract expired.
The 30-year-old midfield maestro has now signed a contract with the Icelandic team IF Vestri, which competes in Iceland's premier league, Besta Deildabikar.

Vestri, currently sitting ninth in the Group A league standings with only five matches played thus far, announced the signing of the Stars of Africa Academy product on Thursday.
"Thibang Sindile Theophilus Phete or 'Cafu Phete' as he is most commonly known, has joined the ranks of Westri," read the club's statement.
"Cafu Phete is 30 years old and comes from the city of Kimberley in South Africa. He was young at Milano United in Cape Town, but from there he went to Portugal, where he has spent the longest time in his career.

"He has 87 matches in the top division in Portugal and in addition Cafu Phete has played 4 national matches for his nation. In the top division in Portugal, he played with Vitória S.C., F.C. Famalicao, B-SAD and G.D. Chaves.
"Cafu Phete is a defensive midfielder who can also play as a defender. Cafu Phete will meet the Vestra team in Tenerife, as the team's training trip is starting there this weekend."
