Aubameyang wins league title for just 8 minutes of football!

Chelsea outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now officially won a new major trophy, despite his contribution to the title lasting just eight minutes.

The Gabonese star has had a debut season to forget at Chelsea, having made little impact at the club since his €12 million (R249 million) arrival from FC Barcelona in September 2022.

The striker has played less than 1 000 minutes of football this season, with most of his appearances coming off the bench at Stamford Bridge, where he has become somewhat of a divisive figure in the squad.

A number of supporters and pundits alike have slammed the player for his underwhelming contributions to the team, while he is also believed to have incensed some at the club after he was spotted celebrating with his old teammates at the Camp Nou in March after Barca beat Real Madrid in an ElClasico.

Earlier this month, he made no secret of the fact he would love to rejoin the Spanish giants, and Chelsea are thought to be open to terminating his contract by mutual consent ahead of a massive player exodus in the next transfer window.

However, Aubameyang now has reason to smile as he has finally won the first league title of his career after playing in all of Europe's top five leagues.

With the Blaugrana sealing their 2022/23 LaLiga triumph on the weekend, the 33-year-old will also receive a winner's medal as he made an eight-minute cameo for the Catalan club before joining the Blues, thus making him eligible for the prize.

It is understood that this small contribution would not earn him a winner's medal in the Premier League, with FA rules stipulating that a player needs to make a minimum of five appearances in order to qualify for the accolade.

The former Arsenal captain is also rumoured to be heading back to Barca next season, although that move is reportedly dependent on the Spanish team's financial situation in the next few months.
