Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Luis Campos has provided a fresh update on Lionel Messi's future as the Argentine superstar now has just five months left on his contract in France.
With the 35-year-old yet to pen a new deal at PSG, speculation regarding his future has increasingly grown since the conclusion of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
It was initially reported in January that the French giants have a verbal agreement with the player over a renewal, however, those claims have since not been backed up by the club nor Messi's representatives at this point.

FC Barcelona are also thought to be in the running for their record goal-scorer, with the likes of manager Xavi Hernandez and club president Joan Laporta having already confirmed their hopes to have the forward return to the Camp Nou.
There is also interest from outside of Europe, with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal having already been mooted where he would once again rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Al-Nassr.
Meanwhile, a switch to the United States has also been reportedly proposed to the reigning world champion, with David Beckham's co-owned Inter Miami keen to acquire his services.
This past weekend, Messi was the hero as he scored the winner in PSG's 2-1 victory over Toulouse, a game the side played with superstars Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Following his heroics at the weekend, Campos provided the latest regarding the Rosario-born footballer's future at the Parc des Princes.
He told Telefoot: "At the moment, we are in discussions with Messi for his extension.
"I would like to keep him in this project, I can't hide it.
"We are talking at the moment to achieve this goal, and continue to have him with us."
