Ronaldo's son leaves Man Utd, joins new club

Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's son has reportedly followed in his father's footsteps and left Manchester United, with his new club having seemingly been revealed.

Ronaldo's second stint at Old Trafford did not have the ending many would have hoped for, coming to a dramatic conclusion when his contract terminated by mutual consent following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan in November.

Having moved on from the club as a free agent, his son Cristiano Jr has now also left the Red Devils' academy and re-signed with Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mail.

The 12-year-old has previously represented Los Blancos' youth sides when his father was at the LaLiga club between 2009 and 2018, and is said to have scored more than 50 goals in 20 games during his first stint in Madrid, before going on to join Juventus' youth set-up when his dad made the move to Italy.

Earlier this year, Ronaldo revealed that his son dreams of playing alongside him in the future, but added that he would never apply pressure on him to become a footballer.

"My son tells me, 'Dad hold on a few more years – I want to play with you',", the Real legend said.

"Only time will tell. I will never pressure him. He will do what he wants.

"Also, what I want the most for Cristianito and everyone else is that they're happy and that they choose what they want.

"I will support in any way."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is reportedly poised for a move to Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nassr, with a medical said to have been booked by the Middle East club this week.

Meanwhile, United boss Erik ten Hag, whom Ronaldo accused of disrespecting him, revealed earlier this week that the 37-year-old instigated his own exit from the Theatre of Dreams.

"The team has been focused on getting back to the Premier League," the Dutch tactician told Viaplay Sport before United's return to action with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

"All I see is a hungry team. I do not look back, only to the future.

"He [Ronaldo] chose to say goodbye, he is no longer part of the team. He's gone and it's in the past.

"We are now looking forward and looking at the future."
