Exiled Ronaldo to return to Man Utd squad 'on 2 conditions'

Exiled Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will reportedly be given two conditions by manager Erik ten Hag in order to return to the squad. 

The 37-year-old's 2022/23 season has evidently gone from bad to worse.

He began the campaign with his future in doubt as he was believed to be desperate to find an exit from the club during the latest transfer window.

During that period, the former Real Madrid talisman failed to turn up for the Red Devils' off-season tour of Thailand and Australia, and infamously left Old Trafford early while United were still in action in their final pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano, an action he repeated against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday.

This time, his antics were dealt with firmly by his manager, with Ten Hag dropping the Portugal international from his squad for their match against Chelsea on the weekend due to his much-publicised refusal to be substituted on against Spurs and storm down the tunnel while the game was still in progress.

Having missed the game against the Blues on Saturday as a result, there could now be a way back into first-team contention for the striker, although he would reportedly need to agree to two conditions first. 

While it was initially believed that the player and tactician would meet for crunch talks on Monday, it appears that will now happen on Tuesday, and according to The Athletic, the Dutch head coach will tell the five-time Ballon d'Or winner he will only be allowed to return to first-team training if he accepts a reduced role in the squad.

Ten Hag is also said to want to see the player show some remorse for his behaviour last week.

It is stated that should the former Real Madrid forward refuse to accept a smaller role in the team and continue to push for an exit, Ten Hag will be open to his departure from the club in January.
