With Mason Greenwood having opened his account for new club Getafe on the weekend, it is reported that his footballing career may now be set for another lifeline.
The 22-year-old has captured the attention of Jamaica national team head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson, who is open to handing the forward an international call-up, according to Jamaica Observer.

Greenwood secured a loan move to Spanish side Getafe late in the most recent transfer window following his parent club Manchester United's decision to suspend him after he was arrested on charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm in January 2022.
He made his debut for Geta Azulones against Osasuna in September, but was met with horrific chants of "Mason Greenwood, die!" by opposition fans.
His new team, however, released a statement in support of the one-time England international, and after opening his account with a 33rd minute goal in Getafe's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo on the weekend, his fortunes seem to be turning around.

It is now reported that the forward could soon be making a return to the international scene, only this time he could be representing Jamaica's Reggae Boyz.
Being of Jamaican descent and having made only one appearance for England's senior side, Greenwood would be eligible to don the Jamaica jersey.
According to FIFA regulations, a player must make three senior appearances for his national team before being bound to them.
"I am not different from all coaches in the world; we would like to have the best talent on our team. If he gets his former fitness and former levels, for sure he would have that level to help Jamaica," Hallgrimsson said, per The Peoples Person.

This will have been welcome news for Greenwood after Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate reiterated earlier this year that the striker would not be considered for selection again, but it remains to be seen if he will accept any offer to represent the Caribbean nation or wait to see if the manager who takes charge of England after Southgate will have a different opinion on giving him a chance to play for the British nation again.
