Man Utd 'want' huge striker swap deal, club 'responds'

Manchester United have now reportedly got their answer regarding a swap deal for a certain striker they are targeting.

The Red Devils look set to welcome goalkeeper Andre Onana as their newest player soon after an agreement was reportedly reached with both the player and his club Inter Milan this week.

The English giants are thus said to be turning their sights to acquiring a new centre-forward to lead their attack next season.

Having ended their interest in Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane last month, United are understood to have made Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta their priority target for that position, with the Denmark international reportedly seen as a better option than the likes of Randal Kolo Muani and Victor Osimhen, who has seemingly been priced out of a move to Old Trafford by his team Napoli.

The Mancunians are understood to be working on a tight budget in this window with their potential change of ownership still up in the air, and cannot afford the large fee Atalanta are demanding for Hojlund.

As such, the Red Devils are reported to have proposed a swap deal to the Serie A club for the 20-year-old, one that would have seen outcast Mason Greenwood head in the opposite direction along with two other players.

However, according to The Telegraph, Atalanta have shot down that idea as they are only interested in a straight fee for their 2022/23 breakout star.

Per journalist Fabrizio Romano, though, United are now preparing an opening offer for the marksman, with personal teams with the player 100% agreed.

Atalanta have reportedly insisted they want €65 to €70 million (R1.3 to R1.4 billion) for their Danish goal-poacher, and are now waiting for an official bid.
