Man Utd outcast Greenwood says 'yes' to Euro giants

With many doubts around his future at Manchester United, Mason Greenwood has now reportedly said "yes" to a move to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Serie A giants Juventus have made an early approach for the Red Devils striker, who in turn has expressed a desire to move to the Allianz Stadium, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport

While United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has previously stated that the club will make a decision on his future, it has been suggested that a return to the first team at Old Trafford for the 22-year-old is highly unlikely.

This comes after charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against the Englishman were dropped in February last year, after which the Red Devils announced that he would restart his career away from the Theatre of Dreams.

He has since reignited his career via a loan spell at Getafe in the 2023/24 season, impressing as he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 36 matches across all competitions for Los Azulones.

With Juve now said to have made a move to secure his services, it is claimed the Old Lady have been tracking his progress for a while, and that the Italian giants have been in contact with Greenwood's representatives for some time too.

It is believed the man who is reportedly set to replace Massimiliano Allegri as Juve manager, Thiago Motta, is a big admirer of the forward, with it now believed he is the Italian club's top target for the upcoming transfer window.

While the Bianconeri are said to have received a positive answer from the United star, it is reported that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has laid the foundation to open talks with the Manchester side.

The Red Devils hierarchy, however, have slapped a reported price tag in the region of €35 to €40 million (between R719 and R821 million) on Greenwood, a price the Old Lady consider to be too high.

They are, however, believed to be trying to broker a deal that could see that price come down.

Acquiring his signature may yet prove a challenge, though, with Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund also reportedly interested in securing his services.
