A Manchester United star has revealed that he made a phone call and apologised to Erik ten Hag after he was sacked by the club.
It has been exactly a week since United finally pulled the trigger on Ten Hag, ending his middling spell which lasted just over two seasons.

Although the news did not exactly come as a shock in many quarters given the insurmountable pressure that the Dutchman was facing, some players were left reeling by his abrupt dismissal, including club captain Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese star scored a penalty in United's 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday and after the match, he revealed that he felt responsible for the way things ended for Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
"I spoke to him and I apologised if there was anything I could have done better," he told Sky Sports.
"I feel very disappointed that he's gone. I wasn't scoring goals, obviously that's not good for me, and the team are not scoring many goals and I feel responsible."
Fernandes added: "I'm usually a player who gets a lot of goals and a lot of assists and it was not coming so I feel disappointed with that.
"But I always gave 100 per cent to help him and the main thing for me is that he is aware of that. And that's something at least that I can keep in my head."
The Red Devils have since replaced Ten Hag with Ruben Amorim, who is only expected to join the English giants on 11 November and take charge of his first game after the international break.
Discussing the incumbent manager, Fernandes told BBC Sport: "I am a big fan of Sporting and watch a lot of their games.
"Ruben Amorim brought the excitement back to the club - it was a little bit split when he came [to Sporting]. He transformed everything and brought everyone together."
