Man Utd star gets apology... all the way from Africa!

A Manchester United star has now received an apology all the way from Africa following comments made by a certain politician.

During a debate about Ghana's budget last year, member of parliament Isaac Adongo mocked Harry Maguire, saying he had become United's "biggest threat, tackling Manchester players and giving assists to opponents. Mr. Speaker, when you see the opponents go to score, Maguire will score for them."

The England international's run of poor form and absence from the Red Devils' starting XI at the time was used by Adongo to compare the way vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia managed the country's economy.

Ghana is reportedly battling an economic crisis, with inflation having reportedly risen to a record 54% in December last year.

However, this is said to have since fallen to approximately 35%, and during a debate on the country's 2024 budget on Tuesday, Adongo issued an apology to the former United captain, hailing him as a "transformational footballer" and a "key player", per the BBC

The England centre-back has since accepted the apology, taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to respond by saying: "MP Isaac Adongo, apology accepted. See you at Old Trafford soon."

Despite his transformed view of Maguire, Adongo did not let up on his feelings towards the vice-president and his handling of the nation's economic woes, though, adding: "As for our Maguire, he is now at the IMF [International Monetary Fund], with a cup in hand."

The former Leicester City defender has become an integral part of Erik ten Hag's set-up since this season, following injuries to key stars such as Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, causing them to be sidelined.

While the French centre-back has been deemed match-fit of late, the Argentina international is still recovering from his setback, but is said to have made a return to the training pitch.

In their absence, Maguire seemingly earned his manager's trust back, appearing in seven of the side's 12 Premier League fixtures so far in this campaign.

The defender also scored the goal that saw the Red Devils beat Copenhagen 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League fixture last month, the Manchester giants' only victory in this season's UCL campaign so far.
