Man Utd found to have a rat problem at Old Trafford

A routine inspection by England's health officials has found Manchester United's stadium, Old Trafford, to be infested with mice.

It has been another turbulent season at United, as the club has had to deal with various issues both on and off the pitch since the 2024/25 campaign began.

Results on the field have been largely underwhelming, which ultimately led to the sacking of Erik ten Hag in October, just months after he signed a contract extension.

Moreover, it was widely reported earlier this month that Dan Ashworth had left his position as sporting director after just five months at the club.

New boss Ruben Amorim has also struggled to find consistent results, while Marcus Rashford's recent admission that he would like to leave the Manchester giants has further cast some of the team's issues into the spotlight.

As if things couldn't get worse, United now have to deal with a mice problem at their stadium, with the Theatre of Dreams' food hygiene rating having been dropped from four stars to two out of five by inspectors.

According to the Daily Mail, during a routine inspection, health officials found evidence of mice activity at the stadium, including droppings in a ground-level corporate suite and a food kiosk on the concourse.

In response to the matter, a club spokesperson stated: "Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford.

"Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas, and stringent measures are taken to ensure high levels of hygiene and cleanliness wherever food is stored, prepared, and served. If issues of this nature occur, immediate and appropriate action is taken."

Furthermore, a Trafford Council spokesperson confirmed: "Our environmental health officers gave a food hygiene rating of two following a routine visit.

"We are now working closely with Manchester United to ensure the necessary improvements are carried out."
