The shot-stopper has been a big feature of the English giant's U/18 and U/21 sides, helping the former to a domestic double as they bagged the Premier League North and Premier League Cup with the help of the 18-year-old.
The player has also featured in the prestigious FA Youth Cup, the UEFA Youth League and the EFL Trophy during this current campaign, and has received many plaudits for his performances.
Harrison was born in England, but also has South African citizenship, which makes him eligible to feature for Bafana Bafana at this point in his career.
After the young goalkeeper was handed the award, United's Director of Academy Nick Cox was full of praise for the budding star, and highlighted his maturity.
"Elyh has equipped himself brilliantly throughout the season, consistently performing for our U/18s, U/21s and often training with the first team.
"This variety of experiences will stand him in great stead as he continues his development as a really exciting young goalkeeper.
"Winning this prestigious award at only 18 years of age is really impressive and shows just how mature Elyh is.
"He is a credit to both Tommy Lee, lead academy goalkeeper coach, and Kevin Wolfe, academy goalkeeping coach, who have worked really closely with Elyh."
