Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly asked the club to make a move for a potential Casemiro replacement.
The Red Devils have struggled all over the pitch during the 2023/24 season, having been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stages and currently sitting sixth place on the Premier League table, eight points away from Aston Villa in fourth.

United have recorded an average possession of 50.4% in the league so far this season, and have scored and conceded 39 goals. Many players have underperformed this season, with Casemiro considered to be among them.
Reports suggest that the Brazilian could be on his way out of Old Trafford as the club undergoes a process to lower the current wage bill, with Sofyan Amrabat also tipped to return to Florentina when his loan deal comes to an end.
As such, Ten Hag has identified AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana as someone who could replace Casemiro and has requested the club to purchase the player, according to Fichajes.
Acquiring the 25-year-old, however, will not be an easy task for the Red Devils, as he is said to be valued at €30 million (R611 million).
The side would also face competition from Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, two sides who are believed to be interested in the midfielder as well.
Fofana has made 23 Ligue 1 appearances, collecting one goal and three assists while establishing himself as a key figure in the current Monaco setup.
