Benzema addresses Real exit talks: 'The reality is...'

Karim Benzema has now spoken out on the latest reports regarding his future at Real Madrid, with news suggesting he is on his way to the Middle East.

The 35-year-old superstar has made headlines in recent days, with his contract now down to its final weeks before it expires.

This seemingly caught the attention of newly crowned Saudi Arabian champions Al Ittihad, who are believed to have made a tempting offer to the striker worth a massive €200 million (R4.2 billion) a year, including 100% of his image rights and commercial deals by the Saudi government.

It has also been claimed that the 2022 Ballon d'Or winner has already told Los Blancos he is considering taking up the offer and has communicated this with some of his teammates and manager Carlo Ancelotti.

With suggestions that he is now on the verge of officially leaving the Santiago Bernabeu after 14 seasons, Benzema has now broken his silence on the reports.

Speaking during a ceremony on Thursday night, where he was given the MARCA Leyenda award for his contribution to the sport, the French centre-forward was asked to tell the fans where his future lies, to which he responded: "Speak to the fans? Speak about what?

"Why should I speak of the future if I'm in Madrid?

"It's the internet speaking, and reality is not the internet.

"Staying or leaving Real Madrid? At the moment, I'm here… we have a game on Saturday.

"I know how much Real Madrid fans love me. I feel that when I'm on the pitch, I give my best for them, always.

"I always say that we play with 11 on the pitch but also with a crucial factor, Real Madrid fans."
