Bellingham: Rodri is not unworthy but...

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has now made his feelings clear on Rodri's 2024 Ballon d'Or win.

The 2024 Ballon d'Or award was not without controversy, as Rodri's title win was met with strong opposition from many, particularly those at Real.

The Spanish giants made it clear that they were unhappy about the fact that none of their players won the prestigious accolade this year, despite their 2023/24 UEFA Champions League and LALIGA triumphs.

Moreover, the club argued that if the prize wasn't awarded to Vinicius Junior, their captain Dani Carvajal would have been deserving of it.

Ultimately, the Ballon d'Or went to Rodri despite Real's protests and their decision to boycott the ceremony.

Bellingham, meanwhile, finished third in the voting, behind his teammate Vinicius in second place.

The Englishman now insists that the Ballon d'Or should have gone to his Brazilian colleague instead.

"I don't think too much about the Ballon d'Or stuff, you know. There was a lot of talk about it. Me, personally, I think it should have went to someone from Madrid, particularly Vini, in my opinion," said Bellingham in a press conference ahead of his side's game against Liverpool on Wednesday, according to the Manchester Evening News.

"I don't think Rodri is unworthy at all, I think he's an amazing player. I just think because of the season we had as a team it would have been reasonable."

Real will take on Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night in the Champions League, with Los Blancos looking to avoid back-to-back defeats in the tournament after losing their previous game 3-1 against AC Milan.
