Real Madrid to make shock move for €100m Arsenal star?

Reports suggest that Real Madrid are now considering making a shock move for an Arsenal star valued at €100 million (R2 billion).

Los Blancos have set their sights on the potential acquisition of William Saliba, 22, with the centre-back arousing the interest of club president Florentino Perez, according to Fichajes

The LALIGA giants are believed to have prioritised strengthening their backline after Eder Militao sustained an injury recently, tearing his ACL during an opening-day fixture against Athletic Bilbao.

With Real set to face Osasuna over the weekend, the availability of another defender, 31-year-old David Alaba, is also said to be in doubt.

The report suggests that the Madrid club considers Saliba not only an ideal solution to their issues at the back, but also as a long-term partner for Militao.

Arsenal, however, are said to want to hold on to their star centre-back, with the London-based side feeling he is an important asset with much potential, so much so that they value him at more than €100 million.

However, Los Blancos are believed to still be determined to land the Frenchman's signature despite his high valuation and the contract that binds him to the Gunners until 2027.

Saliba has become a key part of an Arsenal side that is currently third on the Premier League table and unbeaten in the league so far this season, and he is likely to be in action when the north London side take on first-placed Manchester City on Sunday.
