Amid a poor start to his career at Manchester United, Andre Onana could now reportedly be set to make a controversial decision regarding the next Africa Cup of Nations.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper is now believed to be unwilling to represent his country at the AFCON in January and February 2024 in order to focus on playing for his new side, according to ESPN.

Prior to making his £43.8 million (R1 billion) move to Manchester from Inter Milan in July, Onana had retired from international football following a dispute with Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December 2022, and insisted that he had no desire to represent his national side again.
However, in September, after lengthy negotiations, Onana agreed to return to the Indomitable Lions' fold for an all-important AFCON 2023 qualifier against Burundi, which they won 3-0 to secure their qualification for the tournament in the Ivory Coast.
Cameroon's next two matches are international friendlies against Russia and Senegal, which the United keeper has been called up for.
It is reported, though, that he is set for further talks with Cameroon officials over his commitment to playing at Africa's showpiece competition next year, with it believed that he now feels it would not be a good idea to miss a month of football for United following what has been a poor start to the 2023/24 campaign for the Red Devils.
Onana has made costly mistakes in the UEFA Champions League this season too, with an error in United's 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich and, more recently, a sloppy pass that led to a penalty and Casemiro's sending-off during his side's shock 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray this week.

The former Ajax Amsterdam shot-stopper has thus come under much scrutiny as a result, but Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has insisted Onana still has his full backing, saying he "has the capabilities to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world".
