Report: Luis Suarez agrees to join Juventus

The prospect of Luis Suarez playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season is fast becoming a reality after the FC Barcelona star reportedly agreed to join Juventus.

Earlier in the week, Suarez was reported to have agreed personal terms with the Bianconeri after being told to leave Barcelona by new manager Ronald Koeman.

According to the BBC, that agreement has now been confirmed, and Suarez will join the Serie A champions on either a free transfer or for a nominal fee once negotiations surrounding his release from Barca have been concluded.

The 33-year-old still has a year remaining on his current deal in Spain, and has reportedly demanded that the club pays out his full salary for that period before he agrees to be released.

He is expected to earn about €10 million (R198 million) a year after tax in Italy, which is on par with the salary he currently earns at the Camp Nou, and would be eligible to be registered as a European player due to his wife's Italian passport.

Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool for £74 million (R1.6 billion) in 2014, and has scored 198 goals in 283 appearances for the Blaugrana, the third-most by any player in the club's history.
