Tuchel on Mane saga: We tried to turn it around, but..

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has explained how the club failed to turn the Sadio Mane fight saga into a positive, and also confirmed a decision that has been made regarding the African superstar.

The Senegal international has been the talk of the town following his off-field punch-up with Leroy Sane last week.

Following the incident, reports have suggested the Senegal star wants to leave the Allianz Arena and desires a return to Liverpool, speculation that was likely escalated by the club's decision to hand Mane their biggest fine ever.

Surprisingly, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola said earlier this week, when referring to what transpired between Mane and his former player Sane, that sometimes a team "needs conflict" to ensure complacency does not set in.

Tuchel has now insisted that has not been the case for the Bavarians, saying his team messed up the chance to turn the saga into a positive situation in their 1-1 draw with TSG Hoffenheim over the weekend.

"I hoped we would use it in the last match against Hoffenheim, but we didn't, so now the case is already closed and the subject has died," the German manager said, per the Daily Mail.

"I know what Pep means that this kind of energy in the dressing room shows that it is alive, that the players are angry with themselves and with each other.

"But, it was an incident that we do not like – it was too much.

"We [tried] to turn it around, we turned around the momentum and used it as positive energy in the last match, [but] it did not happen.

"I don't think it will have a major impact, no."

Tuchel then confirmed that Mane will return to the matchday squad for the second of leg of Bayern's UEFA Champions League semi-final, in which they are behind 3-0 on aggregate, on Wednesday night following his suspension for their latest Bundesliga game.

"Sadio will be part of the squad because we take the thing off, with the decision of the past Thursday, we have to wait [to see] whether he will start," the former Chelsea boss added.
