UEFA Europa League match report Eintracht Frankfurt v Chelsea 02 May 2019

Chelsea rallied from behind to force a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League semi-final first-leg.

Chelsea started with three changes in Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Willian, while Frankfurt brought in Martin Hinteregger and Filip Kostic.

Suffice to say, the Blues were up against it as Eintracht went ahead on 23 minutes through a diving header from star man Luka Jovic following a cross from Kostic.

The lead was nearly erased on 27 minutes, as a floating effort from outside the area by Pedro put Kevin Trapp into a spot of bother.

Chelsea grabbed the crucial away goal right on the edge of halftime after Pedro showed quick feet to fire into the far corner.

The Blues made a bright start 55 minutes into the second half, as Loftus-Cheek fired over the top from a one-two with Pedro.

Eintracht were let off the hook on 60 minutes when Trapp tipped a header from David Luiz onto the crossbar.

The Londoners looked for more firepower in attack and a minute later brought on star man Eden Hazard who replaced Willian.

It seemed to bring the desired effect, as a few minutes later Loftus-Cheek put Trapp to work with a effort from point-blank range.

Both sides pushed for the winner in the final minutes, but in the end settled for a draw with the advantage ahead of the second-leg in favour of the Blues.
