Super sub inspires Man Utd to victory in Europee

Rasmus Hojlund came off the bench and netted twice as Manchester United defeated Viktoria Plzen 2-1 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.

Marcus Rashford, Joshua Zirkzee, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Noussair Mazraoui were all recalled to the United starting line-up following the loss over the weekend.

After back-to-back defeats in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim's charges were eager to get back on the winning trail but they were finding it tough to break down Plzen, who defended quite deeply.

The game's first real opening arrived on 30 minutes when Bruno Fernandes went close to finding the opening with a powerful strike from distance that was tipped away by goalkeeper Martin Jedlicka.

Unfortunately, the remaining stages of the first half proved to be quite disappointing with the Red Devils dominating without creating much in the final third while United goalkeeper Andre Onana did not have single save to make.

The home side, however, broke the deadlock three minutes after the break when Pavel Sulc won the ball high up after Onana's error and teed up Matej Vydra, who tapped home from close range.

United were back on level terms in the 62nd minute as the substitutions paid off, with Rasmus Hojlund firing home close range after some good work by Antony and Amad Diallo in the build-up on the right flank.

The turnaround was nearly completed on 77 minutes when Mason Mount collected a pass from Amad Diallo to go one-on-one with Jedlicka, but the Plzen goalkeeper came out on top with a fine save.

Ruben Amorim's charges got the winning goal with two minutes left on the clock when Hojlund collected pass from Fernandes before shrugging off his defender and rifling into the far corner.
