New AFL 'dispute' breaks out between CAF & African giants

An argument reportedly broke out between CAF and African giants Enyimba ahead of their crunch African Football League quarter-final second leg against Wydad Athletic Club.

It seems the People's Elephants are continually facing obstacles in their AFL journey.

Their struggles started on the pitch when they succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to the Botola Pro League giants in the first leg.

However, the west African outfit's struggles then transitioned off the field.

Enyimba tried to travel to Casablanca immediately after that encounter against the Red Castle, but spent six hours on a plan waiting to get permission from Moroccan authorities to land in the nation before ultimately being denied access and having to return to Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

With the team having since been cleared to arrive in Morocco, the Nigerian outfit encountered a new issue, this time with CAF, according to Anbae TV.

It is reported that CAF sent official communication to the two-time Champions League winners stating that they were not allowed to train on the Stade Mohammed V pitch due to a fear of the ground being damaged before the second leg.

Per the same report, however, Enyimba officials were resolute in their stance of directing CAF officials to their own rules and regulations, which permit opposition teams to train on the ground where the match will be contested.

The fixture was originally supposed to be played on Wednesday, but due to the aforementioned logistical issues, the AFL decided to postpone the fixture by 24 hours.
