An Argentina star was caught on camera mocking France superstar Kylian Mbappe with a "minute of silence" after the South Americans were crowned champions of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Following a thrilling 3-3 draw after extra-time, Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalties to end their 36-year wait for their third World Cup trophy on Sunday.

Despite the Argentines' success on the night, Mbappe was one of the standout performers of the match, netting a hat-trick to become only the second player ever to do so in a final, and the first since England's Geoff Hurst in 1966.
It was also the 23-year-old's fourth goal in World Cup finals, the most by any men's footballer in history.
However, following France's defeat on Sunday, Mbappe was seemingly on the receiving end of insults from some members of the Argentina squad, most notably goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who had been seen briefly consoling the forward on the pitch after the final whistle had blown.
In the changing room, though, the new world champions were all heard chanting "a minute's silence for..." in tandem, before leaving a gap for the Aston Villa shot-stopper to shout: "... for Mbappe, who is dead!"

It is believed this was in response to comments made by Mbappe six month ago, when he claimed that European nations had an advantage at the World Cup because they generally faced stronger competition than countries from other parts of the globe.
"The advantage we have in Europe is that we play among ourselves with high-level matches all the time, such as the [UEFA] Nations League," the Paris Saint-Germain forward said at the time, according to the Daily Mail.
"When we arrive at the World Cup, we are ready, where Brazil and Argentina do not have this level in South America. Football is not as advanced as in Europe. That's why at the last World Cups, it's always the Europeans who win."

Martinez responded to those remarks ahead of the final last week, saying: "He [Mbappe] said that the level of South America is lower than the European level because he did not play there.
"If you do not have the experience then it is difficult to comment, but nothing was wrong with what he said. They know we are a world-class team and they respect us for that."
