Maguire was initially a first-choice center-back for the club after joining in 2019, but his form dropped off in 2022 and he was eventually replaced by the pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.
Despite earning plaudits for his performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with England, Maguire has continued to struggled to regain his place in United's starting line-up since the Premier League resumed.
He is also now essentially considered the club's fourth-choice center-back, with even left-back Luke Shaw being preferred in his position of late.
According to the Daily Mirror, Maguire could be offered the chance to join West Ham United on loan in January.
David Moyes' side currently sit in the relegation zone, level on points with Southampton and Everton.
Hammers defender Craig Dawson is reportedly of interest to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and is keen to return to the Midlands, opening the door for the London club to sign a new centre-back.
The report suggests that West Ham are considering a number of options to replace Dawson, one being Maguire, while Senegal international Formose Mendy has also been shortlisted.
