Messi makes shock U-turn? PSG 'react'

Paris Saint-Germain are now said to have reacted to reports that Lionel Messi has made an unexpected decision about his immediate future.

Earlier this week, it was claimed the Argentine had decided against signing a new deal with the French club, despite reports in December suggesting that a contract extension had been verbally agreed.

It was claimed there were three reasons stopping Messi from renewing his deal in France, with Kylian Mbappe's new influence and control at the club being one of them.

After the 2022 FIFA World Cup concluded, he also reportedly received big offers from two Saudi Pro League sides, said to be Al Hilal and Al Ittihad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, however, PSG are calm about the situation despite the South American's contract being set to expire in June.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have no doubt about Messi's immediate future, believing the player will put pen to paper on an extension in Paris.

The Spanish news outlet adds that the Ligue 1 log leaders do not believe anything has changed in Messi's camp.

It is further claimed that Les Parisiens will hold a meeting soon to negotiate a definitive agreement for the two-year extension that was verbally agreed last month.
