An Al Ahly chief has now confirmed that one of their stars rejected an offer to join Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr in the latest transfer window.
Egypt No. 1 Mohamed El Shenawy is said to have been the subject of some serious interest from England and Saudi Arabia during the January transfer window.

The 34-year-old has been a key player for the Red Devils since rejoining the club in 2016, having left as an U21 player back in 2009.
His stock has only risen since as he has gone on to win four Egyptian Premier League titles, two CAF Champions League trophies, and two CAF Super Cups.
He also become his country's first-choice goalkeeper after iconic shot-stopper Essam El Hadary retired in 2018.
As such, El Shenawy's exploits have garnered some attention over the years and he has been on the radar of various clubs.
Al Ahly football director Sayed Abdel Hafiz has now confirmed that English Championship side Wigan Athletic and the Saudi giants Ronaldo joined in a record-making move at the beginning of the year, Al Nassr, made moves for the goalkeeper, but the 42-capped Pharaoh turned them both down.
"El Shenawy decided to put Al Ahly's interest above anything else, as he preferred to stay at Al Ahly despite the offers he received. He opted to continue his career with Al Ahly and win more tournaments with the club," Hafiz told Al Ahly's official website.
"This is such an admirable act by Al Ahly's captain who set an example of loyalty to his club and his appreciation for the club's need for his efforts.
"The way El Shenawy dealt with these offers during this difficult time will always be appreciated by Al Ahly's fans, and officials particularly, Mahmoud El-Khatib, who praised the goalkeeper on multiple occasions.
"How Al Ahly's players deal in these situations is reassuring. They always put Al Ahly's interest above anything else."
