Recent reports have suggested that the club's hierarchy will approach both the men's and women's teams for their opinion on the 21-year-old's potential return to the playing squad before making any decision on the matter.
It is said that certain sections of both sides are concerned about the player's return to the first-team set-up.
Now, according to The Sun, the winger is believed to have met with some of his teammates in secret in order to offer his version of what happened.
"He's reached out to some of the United players, some of them he's known since his academy days," a source told The Sun.
"They've met up with him in private to hear him out so they can make their own mind up."
It is said that Greenwood has also reached out to some other teammates, including some senior colleagues who are older and married with children, through social media.

Another source explained how some of the players are feeling about the Greenwood saga amid what has been an impressive run of form of the team.
"There is a level of sympathy for someone who is innocent in the eyes of the law and a long-standing teammate," he told The Sun.
"But the players are absolutely focused on keeping this juggernaut on the road."
Manager Erik ten Hag is also believed to have phoned Greenwood after the charges were dropped, saying he was happy for the player.
