Tuchel on Mane punch-up: It would be nice if...

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has admitted there was a certain aspect of the dressing-room bust-up between Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane he was not happy about.

The incident left many in disbelief when it came to light following Bayern's 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.

However, tensions are said to have calmed since, and peace is believed to have been restored between the two players.

The Bavarian club announced on Thursday that Mane, who threw a punch at Sane to leave the Germany international with a bleeding lip, will serve a one-match ban for this weekend's Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim and has also been handed a fine for his misconduct.

Sane is said to have played a big part in the Senegal international's seemingly lenient punishment, though, with the former Manchester City winger making a point of meeting with the club's hierarchy to convince them to not punish the 31-year-old too harshly.

It is understood the two players have cleared the air internally and apologised to the rest of their teammates for the fight.

Speaking on the matter for the first time on Friday, Bayern boss Tuchel, although happy with the way the issue has been resolved, lamented the fact that news of the incident did not stay within the confines of the changing room.

"I talked with them and we cleared the situation," Tuchel said, according to the Daily Mail.

"It was necessary. It was a heavy incident and it was very important before we entered the next day's training we cleared it clearly and communicated to everybody that everyone who was here training to be positive and be able to train all together.

"This is not the first team for it to happen to and it won't be the last team. For me, I have to say how the players dealt with it and how both players involved dealt with it, it had a cleaning effect.

"It would be nice if things that happen in the dressing room stay there in the dressing room.

"I am the first advocate in defending this young player [Mane]. Everyone can commit mistakes and he is a role model. He presented himself as a man, communicated and acted like a role model.

"There is no perfect situation and yes, he committed a mistake, but how he dealt with it... and Leroy Sane in this situation. We all acted like role models."
