The Al Ahly chief who accepted Percy Tau's prize on the player's behalf has revealed what he told CAF president Patrice Motsepe at the 2023 CAF Awards.
Tarek Kandil, a member of the Egyptian giants' board of directors, told the South African businessman that the 11-time CAF Champions League winners are a club destined to win silverware regardless of who they may go up against.

Ahly walked away from the latest continental awards ceremony with three prizes on Monday night.
They were awarded Club of the Year accolade, while Percy Tau won the CAF Men's Interclub Player of the Year award and Egypt star Abdel Moneim Kahraba was given the prize for the Goal of the Year.
Tau played an important role in Ahly's 2022/23 CAF Champions League triumph, netting five times as well as assisting five further goals on their way to lifting a record 11th CAFCL title.
He was thus the subject of praise from Kandil after the ceremony on Monday, with the executive, who received the award on the Bafana Bafana talisman's behalf because the team is in Saudi Arabia preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup, also revealing what he told Motsepe at the event.
"Al Ahly Club is destined to always be on the podium, it is destined to be forced to win titles, and may God grant us success and enable us to achieve more," Kandil told On Time Sports.
"Percy Tau is a wonderful player, and whoever integrates into the Al Ahly system is always the best, and my presence on the stage to receive three awards at the CAF ceremony is a source of pride, and I said to Motsepe: 'There are others who will win the awards for Al Ahly.'
"Al Ahly is always ambitious and capable of facing great challenges. Our ambition is to win the Club World Cup, and at the same time the players are men and will do their best."
