Kerr speaks after resignation reports

Dylan Kerr has exclusively opened up to KickOff following reports that he has resigned as head coach of Marumo Gallants.

Kerr joined Gallants early this month after Bahlabane Ba Ntwa re-hired him following the purchase of the Betway Premiership status of Moroka Swallows.

The English coach initially led the Limpopo side, which has since relocated to Free State, to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, but the club were eventually relegated in 2022/23, ironically after a defeat to Swallows in the last game of the campaign.

The 57-year-old coach did not go down with Gallants to Motsepe Foundation Championship and instead was roped into the coaching staff of Wrexham, who won promotion to the English League One ahead of the new season.

Kerr faced a daunting task at Gallants, as he had to combine two squads, from the team that competed in the second tier and also players the Limpopo side inherited from the Birds.

Reports surfaced on Tuesday that the former Leeds United defender had tendered his resignation.

This website can confirm after exclusively speaking to Kerr that he has left his role as a head coach of Gallants, although he was not yet at liberty to disclose the reasons.

"I didn't resign, I left," Kerr said.

"It's finished, it's done, it's over," the English coach said, but was not yet prepared to go into details when pressed to elaborate.

Gallants are currently undergoing a major transition in the management and running of the club, as they have partnered with the Bloemfontein Celtic stakeholders, with the intention of re-branding the team back to the famous Green and White outfit.

KickOff has it on good authority that Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have recognized the Celtic National Executive Committee (NEC) in their structures, who have assumed official duties.
